Lot 7:
Description
A collection of die-cast model vehicles and a wooden game. This lot comprises an assortment of road, rail, and military models constructed primarily from die-cast metal with plastic components. Included is a green LNER Class A3 locomotive numbered 4472 with a tender, mounted on a display track labelled LNER ‘FLYING SCOTSMAN’. A secondary static display model features a black steam locomotive on a simulated track plinth with a gold-tone plaque reading THE [illegible] STATIONARY.
The road vehicle group includes several red London double-decker buses with various liveries such as BTA Welcome to Britain, Holy Time News, and LONDON CITY SIGHTSEEING. Commercial delivery vans are represented by a blue van with CHAMPION SPARK PLUGS markings, a yellow Wells van, and a green and yellow ROWNTREE’S delivery vehicle. The military section contains two tanks in olive drab camouflage and a blue Land Rover with a Red Cross symbol on a flatbed. Also included is a wooden slide-top box for a game titled ANIMAL DOMINO, featuring colourful illustrations of a parrot, zebra, elephant, and tiger.
Condition report:
The collection is in a mixed play-worn and display condition. Several red buses exhibit significant paint loss and chipping to the edges (photo 1). The green locomotive appears to be missing a rear wheel set or coupling component (photo 5). The black locomotive on the plinth is heavily coated in surface dust (photo 4). Minor paint scuffs are visible on the protruding edges of the military tanks (photo 2). The commercial vans and newer vehicles, such as the black Mini and yellow sports car, appear in better cosmetic condition with minimal visible wear. The wooden domino box shows minor surface abrasions (photo 1).
