Lot 30:
Description
A collection of decorative lanterns in various materials and styles, together with a large wire sculptural ornament. The group includes a large hexagonal black-painted metal lantern featuring pierced floral and geometric patterns to the dome and gallery, fitted with clear glass panels. Also present are rectangular metal lanterns in pink, brushed silver-tone, polished chrome-tone, and grey finishes, alongside a light-toned wooden frame lantern with a galvanised metal top. A small white-painted circular lantern features star-shaped cutouts. Several examples contain white pillar candles, and one grey lantern is decorated with a natural fibre rope handle and a wooden star charm. The lot is completed by a large spherical decorative object constructed from woven rusted wire, containing faceted drops suspended within the interior. Pink adhesive inventory labels are present on several items, including one reading 702.
Condition report:
The lanterns and wire ornament appear in good used condition. The wire sphere has a rusted finish which is likely intentional but shows some unevenness across the surface (photo 1). The wooden lantern shows minor scuffs and marks to the timber frame (photo 1). The candles contained within the grey and brushed silver-tone lanterns have been previously used (photo 2). General surface dust and light finger-marking are visible on the glass panels throughout the collection. No chips or cracks were observed to the glass panels.
