Description
A Wilesco live steam model steam roller, constructed from painted green and red tinplate with a steel boiler and cast alloy rollers. The model features a horizontal boiler with a brass sight glass to the rear, a single-acting cylinder, and a red-painted flywheel. The steering is operated by a red steering wheel connected via a chain-driven mechanism to the front roller assembly. A red corrugated canopy is supported by four vertical rods. The underside of the chassis is stamped with a manufacturer’s mark reading WILESCO, with W. GERMANY visible in smaller characters below. The model includes a removable solid fuel burner tray situated beneath the boiler.
Condition report:
The model is in used vintage condition with an accumulation of dust and oily residue throughout the engine and chassis (photo 7). There are minor surface scratches and small areas of paint loss to the red roof (photo 2) and the green boiler casing (photo 1). The steering chains show light surface oxidation (photo 4). Heat discolouration and soot deposits are visible at the firebox end of the boiler assembly (photo 7). General wear is evident to the silver-toned finish of the rollers (photo 6). The steering wheel extension rod is not present.
