Lot 151:
Description
A collection of twelve vintage figurines comprising character figures and an assortment of carved animals. The lot includes two cast resin or composite anthropomorphic character figures: a pirate wearing a red headscarf and eye patch, and a fisherman in yellow sou’wester foul-weather gear. The animal subjects include two large stylised elephants in a high-gloss, light-coloured material designed to mimic aged ivory, both featuring raised trunks.
The collection further contains several African style hardwood carvings, including three elephants, one of which features inset tusks, a lion, a rhinoceros, and a hippopotamus. Also included are two wooden duck decoys with elaborate hand-painted floral and geometric decoration in green, red, and gold tones. No manufacturer marks or signatures are visible on any of the pieces.
Condition report:
The pirate and fisherman figures show minor paint loss and scuffing to raised surfaces (photo 4). The two large light-coloured elephants show significant dust accumulation in textured crevices, with a small chip noted on the ear rim of one figure (photo 3). The wooden animal carvings show general surface scuffs and minor drying cracks, particularly to the tusked elephant (photo 5). The duck decoys exhibit visible wear to the painted decoration on the bills and tails (photo 6).
