Description

A collection of vintage children’s books, predominantly authored by Enid Blyton. The group comprises a variety of formats including hardcovers in pictorial boards, publisher’s cloth-bound volumes, and various paperbacks. The assortment includes examples from several publishers such as Dean & Son Ltd, Dragon Granada, Armada, and Award. Notable series present include Malory Towers, St. Clare’s, The Famous Five, and the Noddy books.

Visible titles include The Tower in Ho-Ho Wood, Treasure Trove, The Enchanted Wood, The Secret of Killimooin, and The Folk of the Faraway Tree. A multi-volume set of St. Clare’s novels is held within a pictorial slipcase bearing the Dragon Granada imprint. Several larger format pictorial boards are present, including Tales of Toyland and Noddy Meets Father Christmas. One volume titled Treasure Trove is published by Treasure Press. Many volumes from the Dean & Son series feature numbered spines, such as ’25’ on Mr. Meddle’s Muddles and ’53’ on First Term at Malory Towers. This lot comprises the books only; the shelving and mailing tube shown in the images are not included.

Condition report:

The collection exhibits varying degrees of age-related wear. Many of the Dean & Son hardcovers show bumped corners, shelf wear to the board edges, and fraying at the spine heads and tails (photo 1). The paperbacks show typical age-toning to the text blocks and creasing to the spines (photo 2). The slipcase for the St. Clare\'s set shows significant rubbing and edge wear (photo 4). Several volumes, including More Adventures of the Famous Five, are protected in clear plastic sleeves. The Noddy pictorial boards show surface rubbing and some minor staining to the covers (photo 3).
