The lot also features a blue and white banded earthenware bottle marked STAFFORDSHIRE CHEF WARE MADE IN ENGLAND with a chef logo, and an earthenware sauce boat with hand-painted floral decoration marked with a crown device and Crown Devon MADE IN ENGLAND 4722.
Representing art pottery is a light blue stoneware saucer marked WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND 70 and a pale yellow and green glazed floral form candlestick marked WEDGWOOD & CO LTD MADE IN ENGLAND with a unicorn logo. A blue and black mottled glaze candlestick is incised to the base Ewenny Pottery Wales. Continental examples include two small blue and white plates, one featuring a windmill design, marked with a crown and HAND PAINTED Delft HOLLAND. The collection is completed by Italian style majolica vases and pitcher with hand-painted floral motifs, and partial Japanese style eggshell porcelain tea sets decorated with dragon and geisha figures.
Condition report:
One large Willow pattern platter has a significant vertical crack running through the centre and extensive surface crazing (photo 5). The tea wares show general light wear to the gilt edges and minor surface scratches consistent with use. Most decorative pieces appear in good display condition, though the collection consists largely of partial and mismatched sets.
