Lot 98:
Sold for: £40
Description
A collection of religious jewellery comprising various pendants and necklaces, primarily constructed from sterling silver. The group includes numerous loose pendants in the form of Latin crosses, flared-arm crosses, and crucifixes. Also included are several religious medals, notably featuring depictions of St Christopher carrying the Christ child. The lot further contains at least five complete necklaces, each featuring a fine-gauge curb or trace link chain paired with a cross or Celtic cross pendant with interlaced knotwork decoration. Many items are retained in their original retail packaging, which includes plastic hang-tag sleeves and clear plastic presentation boxes with cream-coloured inserts. Several components bear retail labels and inserts reading STERLING SILVER, with some presentation boxes featuring the same text in silver or blue lettering. Adhesive price and inventory labels are present on the packaging, with transcribed values including 1.00, 3.25, 3.95, 4.75, 5.25, 5.75, 7.25, 10.95, and 11.75.
Condition report:
The items are in unused condition, retained in their original retail packaging. Natural surface oxidation and tarnishing consistent with silver is visible on many pieces, particularly those in the plastic hang-tag sleeves (photo 3). The packaging shows age-related wear including yellowing of the plastic sleeves and remnants of adhesive residue from old price labels (photo 4 and 5). The presentation boxes appear intact with some light surface scratching to the clear lids.
