Description
A stained glass lamp shade featuring a repeating dragonfly motif in a Tiffany style. The shade is constructed using the copper foil technique with dark-patinated lead cames and features three dragonflies with red glass bodies and dark glass cabochon eyes. The dragonfly wings are formed from iridescent, textured metal filigree. These are set against a variegated background of blue slag glass and rippled teal glass segments arranged in a swirling pattern. The shade is housed within a circular black metal frame which includes an integrated three-arm internal support structure and a central mounting ring for a light fitting. No maker’s marks, signatures, or etched labels are visible on the glass or the metalwork.
Diameter: 40.6 cm.
Condition report:
The glass shows at least one visible hairline crack in a blue slag glass panel near the upper rim (photo 3). The metal frame and internal support structure show signs of age with green oxidation and patina throughout (photo 1). The metal filigree on the dragonfly wings shows minor surface wear (photo 2).
