Description
A pair of two mixed media foil panels by Richelle Emblem, featuring psychedelic Art Nouveau style designs. The panels are constructed from foil-backed board and depict stylised fairies with marbled bodies in shades of yellow, green, and blue. One panel, titled Rose Fairy, illustrates a figure with a white blossom and a butterfly. The second panel, titled Poppy Fairy, depicts a figure seated upon a yellow spotted mushroom under a large yellow poppy. Both designs are set against a reflective silver metallic ground with a circular etched sunburst effect and delicate fern foliage. Each panel is signed Richelle Emblem in the lower right corner. The reverse of each panel bears a printed white adhesive label from the retailer Boots; one reads ANOTHER PICTURE FRAMED BY [Boots Logo] / ROSE FAIRY / R.N.A.A. / 11 and the other ANOTHER PICTURE FRAMED BY [Boots Logo] / POPPY FAIRY / R.N.A.A. / 11. The works are housed in narrow silver toned metal frames.
Condition report:
The metallic surfaces of both panels exhibit minor superficial scuffing and small scratches across the central fields (photos 1, 3, and 4). The silver toned metal frames show general surface wear and tarnish consistent with age (photo 1). The rear backing boards of both panels display significant brown spotting and foxing across the entire surface (photo 5).
