Description
A Mid-Century Modern folding tea trolley manufactured by Remploy. The trolley is constructed with an oak veneered top and a secondary lower shelf, supported by a beech or similar hardwood frame. The top features a central fixed section with two drop-leaf flaps that hinge upward to create a larger serving surface. The unit is supported by four tapered legs terminating in small black casters for mobility. A metal maker’s label is fixed to the underside of the top, which reads “Remploy” in blue script within a white and red oval, flanked by the words “GUARANTEED” and “PRODUCT” in blue. This lot comprises the trolley only; the upholstered footstool and other background items shown in the photographs are not included.
Condition report:
The wooden top surface shows significant wear, including several dark circular ring marks, scratches, and loss of finish (photos 1 and 3). The lower fixed tray also exhibits surface scratches and general wear to the finish consistent with use (photo 4). The frame and casters appear structurally sound, although the wood shows light scuffing throughout.
