Description

A Sankyo Sound-700 film projector designed for Super 8 and Single 8 magnetic sound film formats. The unit is constructed with a black plastic exterior housing over a metal chassis and features a range of integrated controls for sound and projection. The front interface includes a sound level meter, a master control dial for stop, projection, and lamp functions, a speed selector for 18 and 24 frames per second, and several rotary knobs for volume and sound adjustment. Connection ports for monitor, auxiliary, line out, and microphone are located on the front right panel.

The rear of the projector features a cooling vent and a voltage selector currently set to 240 volts. A silver identification plate on the rear reads “Sankyo SOUND-700”, “100 110 117 125 200 220 240 V”, “50 / 60 Hz 200 W”, and specifies a “LAMP 12 V 100 W”. It also records “SOUND OUTPUT 2 W 8Ω (EXT 10 W 8Ω)” and the “BODY NO. 6240795”, concluding with “SANKYO SEIKI MFG. CO., LTD. MADE IN JAPAN”. The lot includes an original instruction manual titled “Sankyo INSTRUCTION MANUAL SOUND-700/500 SUPER 8/SINGLE 8” and the original polystyrene packaging base.

Condition report:

The projector appears in good cosmetic condition but shows signs of age and storage, with a layer of dust visible across the textured black plastic surfaces and within the cooling vents (photo 1). The control knobs and dials remain intact with legible markings (photo 2). The rear identification plate is clear and securely attached (photo 1). The instruction manual shows some creasing and discolouration consistent with use (photo 3). The polystyrene packaging base is intact but exhibits significant staining and wear (photo 2). No power cable or film reels are visible in the photographs. The mechanical and electronic functions of the unit have not been tested.
