Description
A collection of assorted metalware featuring a substantial hand-hammered copper kettle and a variety of brass and silver-plated decorative items. The large kettle is constructed with a fixed brass handle and a turned wooden grip, showing traditional soldered seams. The group includes a miniature brass coal scuttle with a fixed handle and three claw feet, alongside a small brass decorative kettle featuring an engraved body and a wooden handle.
The collection further comprises an assortment of miniature items such as a cast metal reclining tiger, a rabbit figurine, and a donkey pulling a cart. Tableware elements include silver-plated egg cups, various candlesticks in both brass and silver-plated finishes, miniature jugs, tankards, and character jugs. Also present are silver-plated open salts with blue glass liners, an etched goblet, and a rectangular jewellery box featuring embossed floral scrollwork. Some pieces in the assortment carry marks; the base of a silver-plated egg cup bears an illegible impressed mark, and a small circular silver-plated tray has an unreadable mark to the underside.
Condition report:
The large copper kettle exhibits significant denting across the body and heavy surface oxidation with patches of verdigris, particularly around the lid and spout (photo 2). The miniature brass and silver-plated items show varying degrees of tarnish and patina throughout. Several silver-plated pieces, notably the egg cups and the etched goblet, show wear where the plating has worn through to the base metal and heavy oxidation (photo 3). The cast metal tiger figurine has a weathered patina with heavy surface oxidation (photo 5). No structural breaks or cracks are visible in the provided images.
