Description
This decorative straw marquetry relief panel features a central figurative scene within an integrated floral border. The central rectangular relief depicts a banquet scene, likely the Supper at Emmaus, with multiple figures gathered around a draped table and a dog positioned underneath. The scene is constructed using varying shades and textures of natural straw to achieve a sense of three-dimensional perspective and depth. The wide outer border is decorated with elaborate floral and foliate swags. The work is executed in the traditional straw marquetry technique, where split and flattened straw is applied to a support.
